Deformation of a rubber box
In a newly developed power supply box to be used in building a stiffness problem occurred. Leaving the door open -especially in the sun-, made the box very vulnerable for permanent deformation caused by creep.
Solution
The deformation resistance of the box was improved by several structural modifications, amongst which replacement of the original door hinge by a piano-hinge.
Results
The proposed modifications resulted in an improved structural behavior of the power supply box.
